Added as a new flagship in the Arion 500 range, the 180hp 570 CMatic joins an expanding club of high-horsepower, four-cylinder tractors from multiple manufacturers

Extending the Arion 500 range to cover four models from 125 to 180hp, the new 570 is only offered with the manufacturer’s in-house assembled CMatic CVT transmission. The introduction of a higher-powered four-cylinder machine aligns Claas with a growing trend across tractor makers – with competitor machines from John Deere, Deutz Fahr, Fendt and Valtra all offering more power from short wheelbase, four-cylinder machines.

Power is supplied by the same 4.5-litre FPT engine as the other models in the range, which delivers a claimed maximum unboosted output of 180hp and a maximum torque of 730Nm delivered at 1,400rpm.

Unboosted power:

Claas claims the unboosted output is an important characteristic of the 570, which allows the unit to deliver the full engine output at all times, and does not require a specific situation, such as high pto or transport load to unlock the full engine abilities through a boost. Hydraulic capacity extends to a 150 litre-minute output and four double-acting electrohydraulic spool valves fitted as standard.

Upgrades to manage the power increase over the smaller 165hp 550 include a reinforced front axle and increased maximum tyre size options with Trelleborg VF 710/60R38 tyres on the rear axle and VF 600/60 R28 on the front. Kerb weight distribution has also been adjusted to maintain a claimed 50:50 balance. Only offered with the manufacturer’s CMatic CVT transmission, Claas says this has been subject to several software and electronic changes to work with the characteristics of the higher-powered four-cylinder engine, but retains the same functionality with two automatically selected drive modes, and a top speed of 40 or 50 km/h.

Loader and transport tasks:

An additional wheel-loader mode is offered for users operating the 570 with an integrated front loader with the transmission software using torque and engine speed sensors to prevent the wheels spinning in push mode and providing precise speed control in the hydrostatic range when stacking straw bales or pallets.

For transport tasks, an additional automatic trailer stretch brake provides improved trailer or implement control, especially when travelling downhill or when working on slopes. Claas says the system activates when decelerating, with the automatic braking system applying the air brakes of the trailer or attached implement as thrust forces are exerted on the tractor.

For users looking for machines with a more unique appearance, the 570 can also be ordered in the manufacturer’s Night Edition specification. Currently provided across the Arion and Axion ranges, it features custom grey painted wheel rims, roof and side engine panels. The brand logo on the side of the bonnet has been changed to white on a grey background, plus Night Edition lettering displayed on the side of the bonnet and an Apple Carplay connection.
